Authors Visit the Library

George O'Connor

George O’Connor

On April 19, fourth-graders filled the library for a presentation by George O’Connor, author of the wildly popular Olympians series of graphic novels, which chronicles the lives of the Greek gods. O’Connor talked about how he plans, draws, and writes his books and gave kids the chance to see a sketch for the cover of the volume he’s working on now, about Artemis, goddess of the hunt.

O’Connor’s visit was part of the library’s Middle School Author Series, which aims to bring an author to speak to each middle school grade. In January, as part of the series, the seventh grade welcomed Jason Reynolds, who read from and discussed his timely novel All American Boys, which had just been named a Coretta Scott King Honor Book. In December, Maggie Thrash spoke to the eighth grade about her award-winning graphic memoir Honor Girl.
