Kindergarten & Lower School: FAQ

What is your age cutoff?
The age cutoff for for Kindergarten and 1st grade is September 1st. Children must be five by September 1st to enter Kindergarten and six by September 1st to enter 1st grade.

Is an Open House and/or tour required?
Open Houses are strongly recommended for Kindergarten applications in particular and are open to anyone interested in hearing more about our Lower School. Parents are welcome to sign up at any point in the process by visiting our open house registration page. An in-person tour is required for at least one parent/guardian of a current kindergarten applicant. These tours are limited to this group only, due to size constraints.

What happens if I submit an application for K after the process is closed?
For parents who submit an application after we run out of interview slots but before the application deadline, their application will go into a wait pool. We do not collect fees for these applications unless something opens up and we’re able to schedule an interview. In the past we have not been able to schedule interviews for many people from this pool.

How do I schedule the interviews?
After you submit your online application, you will receive an email from us with details about how to schedule the interviews required for your grade.

Is the ERB required?
We do not require OR accept the ERB for Kindergarten and 1st grade applicants.
