Alumni Day 2017
Annual unrestricted donations directed to the most critical needs and priorities of Saint Ann’s School.
The Scholarship Fund at Saint Ann’s enables the school to welcome a diverse group of extraordinary students each year with varied experiences, opinions, and talents from across the socioeconomic spectrum.
Prep for Prep Fund
Since 1987, Saint Ann’s has partnered with Prep for Prep, a Manhattan based non-profit. Prep for Prep identifies high achieving students of color in New York City, places them in independent schools throughout the five boroughs and boarding schools throughout the Northeast, and provides them with educational support during their secondary school years. A donation to this fund will be designated for the restricted purpose of providing financial assistance to Prep for Prep students attending Saint Ann’s.
Senior Parent Gift
Each year, parents of Saint Ann’s seniors join together to purchase a gift for the school on the occasion of their children’s graduation. At the recommendation of the school, a specific need is identified and a goal is set to meet that need. In 2012 for example, a brand new Yamaha grand piano was purchased for the Ettl Lobby to replace the aging Steinway. The Senior Parent Gift ensures that each family that passes through Saint Ann’s leaves a lasting legacy to the school.
Stanley A. Bosworth Memorial Fund
The Stanley A. Bosworth Memorial Fund honors the legacy of the founding headmaster of Saint Ann’s School. Stanley’s vision made possible a school that was, is, and always will be a bastion of intellectual and artistic freedom and curiosity. Stanley’s fervently independent spirit and ideals continue to live on in the lives and minds of current students, faculty, and alumni alike. A donation to the Stanley A. Bosworth Memorial Fund supports the critical general operating costs of the school.
John Shelley McShane Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was established in memory of John Shelley McShane, an adored Saint Ann’s history teacher for 35 years. Jack spent his career imparting his passion for history and the political process to his students through engagement inside and outside of the classroom. Every four years, beginning with Ronald Reagan’s election in 1980, Jack led a group of students to Washington, D.C. for the Presidential Inauguration. Jack treasured these trips and their profound impact on each of his students. With this in mind, all donations to the John Shelley McShane Scholarship Fund provide financial assistance for meaningful school excursions.
Victor J. Marchioro Memorial Fund
The Victor J. Marchioro Memorial Fund was established in memory of a beloved Saint Ann’s history and classics teacher. For 36 years Victor enriched the minds of Saint Ann’s students teaching Ancient Greek and Latin as well as offering courses on the Bible, Marx and Freud, to name a few. Victor’s vast breadth of knowledge is reflected in the remarkable library he left to Saint Ann’s upon his death. The collection is comprised of a wide array of books, DVDs, and CDs which reflect Victor’s deep love of history, literature, and the arts. A donation to the Victor Marchioro Memorial Fund will be used for the restricted purpose of cataloguing, maintaining, and utilizing his large collection.
Gail Brousal Scholarship Fund for Students
Gail Brousal served as the Head of High School at Saint Ann’s for 30 years. The Class of 1984 established this scholarship fund on the occasion of their 25th reunion in honor of Gail’s lasting impact on the thousands of students that she guided during her tenure at Saint Ann’s. Donations to the Gail Brousal Scholarship Fund for Students provide tuition aid to students in need of financial assistance.
Marianne P. Eismann Scholarship Fund
The Marianne P. Eismann Scholarship is named in memory of Marianne Eismann (’75), a Saint Ann’s School alumna who passed away in 2011. Marianne loved Saint Ann’s. Marianne lived a life dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, and shared her intellectual gifts in the most generous fashion with those of all ages. There is no more fitting tribute to Marianne than to provide an opportunity for others to experience the rewards of attending Saint Ann’s.
