National Book Award

Update

The library’s National Book Award reading group culminated (until next year) today with a special event—a pizza lunch in the library with Emily Jenkins, the chair of the judging committee for the National Book Award in Young People’s Literature. Emily (who publishes young-adult novels under the name E. Lockhart) talked with students about how the judging works, why she loved the winner, the burdens and joys of reading dozens of books in a relatively short period of time, and much more. The students were fascinated with the inside look at the process, and Emily enjoyed hearing the students’ takes on the books. It was hard to stop talking and go to class when the bell rang!
