Best-selling author Lauren Oliver visited the library on May 21 to speak to the seventh grade and read to them from her riveting new novel Panic. Panic is the story of a small upstate town where high school students each year compete in a potentially deadly game—that also has the potential to make them rich. Oliver talked about her journey as a writer and advised aspiring authors in the audience to write every day and pay attention to plot. Students asked questions ranging from the personal to the technical. Then, many of them checked out Oliver’s books!
Oliver’s visit was part of the Middle School Author Series, which is run jointly by the library and the English department, and aims to bring an author to present to each middle school grade each year.
