Ia is a current Saint Ann’s parent as well as the parent of a Saint Ann’s graduate. She is a practicing psychologist in downtown Brooklyn. Prior to embarking on her career as a psychologist, Ia taught in the Saint Ann’s Lower School for seven years. She also serves on the board of Brooklyn Community Housing and Services. Ia holds a B.A. from Trinity College-Hartford and a PsyD from New York University. She joined the Board in 2018.
Tamara is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. Tammy is a Professor of Law at New York Law School. Her scholarship focuses on corporate governance systems design and the nature of corporations. Tammy holds a B.S. from the University of Florida and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. She also serves as a trustee of the Brooklyn Museum. Tammy joined the Board in 2018.
Crystal is a current Saint Ann’s parent as well as the parent of a graduate. Crystal is the Founder and CEO of the company that operates Camp Half-Blood, Brooklyn, and its related programs. Previously, she was the Owner and Operator of Brownstone Books, an independent bookstore in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Crystal has served on the board of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. A graduate of Hampton University, she also holds an M.P.A. from the University of Delaware and a Doctorate in Education and Organization Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bobb-Semple joined the Board in 2017.
Tony is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. Tony is a practicing psychiatrist who works primarily with children and adolescents. He is also a teacher, working with residents as Assistant Professor at New York University Medical Center in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and with undergraduates through NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences. Tony received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University, his adult psychiatry training at UCLA-West Los Angeles VA training program, and his child and adolescent psychiatric training at the NYU Child Study Center. He joined the Board in 2017.
Alaina joins the Saint Ann’s Board of Trustees as our newest Young Alumni Trustee. Alaina graduated from Saint Ann’s in 2018. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Fine and Studio Arts. Alaina currently works as a Commerce Producer at Bon Appétit and Epicurious, where she also writes articles on everything from (the best) tahini to a (TikTok-viral) bag sealer that’ll cure your stale snack woes. Alaina also started her own baking blog called Crumbs and Nibbles.
Josh is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. He is an executive, entrepreneur and investor creating innovative businesses at the intersection of media and technology. Currently, Josh is building Likewise, a content discovery platform incubated by Bill Gates. He previously led corporate strategy at Viacom, was part of the formative team at ad tech pioneer aQuantive acquired by Microsoft, and was founder and CEO of Periodic, a video news platform. Josh received an A.B. from Princeton University and M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He currently serves on the Board of BRIC. Josh joined the Saint Ann’s Board in 2021.
Andrew is a current parent of three Saint Ann’s students. Andrew is a Managing Director at General Atlantic and focuses on investments in the Consumer sector. Prior to joining General Atlantic in 2014, Andrew worked at Sycamore Partners, Warburg Pincus and Berkshire Partners, where he also focused primarily on consumer investments. Andrew started his career in the Private Equity Group at Goldman Sachs. Andrew received his A.B. from Princeton University in Public and International Affairs and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Andrew joined the board in 2024.
Luke is a current Saint Ann’s parent. He is an investor focused on adaptive reuse projects in and around brownstone Brooklyn. Luke’s nonprofit work includes serving as a trustee at The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. Luke joined the Board in 2018.
Julia Kahr Julia is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. Julia is a Senior Managing Director at The Blackstone Group, where she focuses on private equity investments in the healthcare sector. Julia currently also serves on the boards of Sheltering Arms and BRIC. She received a B.A. in Classical Civilization from Yale University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Julia joined the Board in 2020.
Carolyn has extensive experience as a director at fast-growing companies, from small start-ups to public multinationals. As a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, she ran the credit research department and later managed the early-stage communications and technology investment banking group. At Providence Equity Partners, she focused on venture capital investments and has subsequently worked in and with a number of early-stage technology companies. Carolyn has served on a range of public, private and non-profit Boards, with a particular focus on companies in transition, be it technological, geographic, customer focus or a combination thereof, organically and via acquisition. Carolyn graduated from Princeton University, where she earned a B.A. in Classical Languages. She joined the board in 2013.
Alex is a Prep for Prep program alumnus who came to Saint Ann’s in ninth grade. He currently works as a Senior Principal, Strategy & Operations, Google Fiber. Alex began his private sector career as a financial analyst in the energy infrastructure industry, after serving as Corps Member of Teach For America where he taught third grade. He holds a B.A. in History from Yale University and an M.B.A from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Alex also serves as a member of the Saint Ann’s Alumni Advisory Committee. He joined the Board in 2020.
Fiona currently works at Google as a Software Engineer focusing on natural language processing for the Google Assistant. After graduating from Saint Ann’s, Fiona attended Princeton University where she received her B.S.E. in Computer Science and minored in Linguistics and Statistics/Machine Learning. Prior to her current role, Fiona worked at YouTube and on Google Search. Fiona began her Young Alumni trustee term in 2022.
After graduating from Saint Ann’s, Ashley earned her B.A. in Sociology from Boston College and her M.Ed in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She develops and facilitates diversity, inclusion, and social justice trainings for nonprofit and community-based organizations. Previously, Ashley was Program Director for a Beacon Community Center at Center for Family Life, a neighborhood-based social services organization in Sunset Park. She serves on the Advocacy Council at the Citizens’ Committee for Children. Ashley began her Young Alumni trustee term in 2020.
Anna attended Saint Ann's from first through twelfth grade. After graduating, she attended Yale College, where she received her B.A. in History of Art. Fueled by a lifelong interest in urbanism and social justice, Anna works as an associate at The Vistria Group, where she invests in the preservation and creation of affordable housing across the country. Previously, Anna worked in the Urban Investment Group at Goldman Sachs. Anna is a Member of the Board of Trustees at the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, as well as serving on the junior boards of CAMBA and the Lower Eastside Girls Club. Anna joined the board in 2024.
Chinyere attended Saint Ann’s from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. She is currently a doctoral student of Sociology at Brown University; her research is focused on how social class and race impact school choice. Chinyere began her career teaching English at Deerfield Academy in Western Massachusetts. Chinyere holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College, an M.S. from University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A. From UC Berkeley. Chinyere also serves on the Alumni Council of Swarthmore College. Chinyere joined the board in 2020.
Kavita is the parent of two current Saint Ann’s students. Kavita is Chief of Radiology at Lenox Health Greenwich Village. She received her undergraduate degree from Yale University, her M.D. from SUNY Downstate Medical College, and completed fellowships at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Duke University Medical Center. Kavita joined the Board in 2021.
Joanna is the parent of two current Saint Ann’s students. She is an international human rights lawyer, public health specialist and social entrepreneur. She is currently the Director of Public Health Programs at the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Executive Director of Restore Health, a non-profit incubating innovations in women's health. She also serves on the Board of the Women's Refugee Commission and is a Green Leader for Change at the Natural Resources Defense Council. Joanna holds a B.A. from Yale University, a J.D. from NYU Law School and a MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. Joanna joined the board in 2024.
Daniel is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. He is one of the co‐founders of Ionic Capital Management. Dan was formerly a Managing Director at Highbridge Capital Management. Dan holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College. He has served on the Board since 2007.
Kit attended Saint Ann’s from preschool through twelfth grade. He is currently a Partner at TNTP, a non-profit dedicated to ending educational inequity and creating pathways for socio-economic mobility. Kit began his career teaching in New Orleans through Teach for America, and was Founding Principal of an elementary school in the California Bay Area. Kit earned an undergraduate degree in public policy from Princeton University and an M.A. in school leadership from Columbia University. Kit also serves on Manhattan Community Board 4, which represents Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen. Kit joined the board in 2022.
Mary is both an alumna and the parent of a Saint Ann’s graduate. Mary has been a Senior Attorney at the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen, and Hamilton since 1999 and now serves as the Director of Professional Development for the firm. Before practicing law, Mary was Chair of the Classics and Asian Languages Department at Saint Ann’s, a Latin and Language Structures teacher, and Director of the After School Program. Mary served on the Board from 1996-2005, then spent two years as the Dean of Faculty at Saint Ann’s before returning to the Board in 2008. She holds a B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D. from Yeshiva University, Cardozo School of Law.
