Vincent Tompkins
Vince joined Saint Ann’s as Head of School in 2010, and is an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees. He is the parent of two Saint Ann’s graduates as well as the parent of a current student. Vince came to Saint Ann’s from Brown University, where he was the Deputy Provost. Prior to his tenure at Brown he taught American cultural and intellectual history in the History Department and the History and Literature program and served in a variety of administrative positions at Harvard University. Vince holds an A.B. in History from Brown, and a Ph.D. in History from Harvard.

Ia Andrews
Ia is a current Saint Ann’s parent as well as the parent of a Saint Ann’s graduate. She is a practicing psychologist in downtown Brooklyn. Prior to embarking on her career as a psychologist, Ia taught in the Saint Ann’s Lower School for seven years. She also serves on the board of Brooklyn Community Housing and Services. Ia holds a B.A. from Trinity College-Hartford and a PsyD from New York University. She joined the Board in 2018.

Tamara Belinfanti
Tamara is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. Tammy is a Professor of Law at New York Law School. Her scholarship focuses on corporate governance systems design and the nature of corporations. Tammy holds a B.S. from the University of Florida and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. She also serves as a trustee of the Brooklyn Museum. Tammy joined the Board in 2018.

Daniel Bergner ’77
Daniel has been a Saint Ann’s English teacher and is the parent of two Saint Ann’s alumni. He was a Saint Ann’s student from 1967-72 and is an honorary member of the class of 1977. Dan is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and the author of a novel and six books of narrative nonfiction. He is a graduate of Brown University and holds an M.F.A. in writing from Columbia University. Dan has served on the Board since 2005.

Crystal Bobb-Semple
Crystal is a current Saint Ann’s parent as well as the parent of a graduate. Crystal is the Founder and CEO of Camp Half-Blood, Brooklyn, and its related programs. Previously, she was the Owner and Operator of Brownstone Books, an independent bookstore in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Crystal has served on the board of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. A graduate of Hampton University, she also holds an M.P.A. from the University of Delaware and is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education. Crystal joined the Board in 2017.

Mino Capossela
Mino is the parent of two Saint Ann’s graduates. Mino is an investor and was previously a partner at Goldman Sachs. He is a trustee of Scripps College and serves on the Board of Directors of the Hero’s Journey Foundation. Mino received an A.B. degree in government from Harvard College and holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD in France. He joined the Board in 2012.

Stephen Cassell ’81
Stephen is the parent of a Saint Ann’s graduate. He is an architect who is the principal and co-founder of Architecture Research Office (ARO), a New York-based firm practicing modern architecture and urbanism. Stephen also teaches at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. He earned his A.B. from Princeton University and holds a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University. Stephen has served on the Board since 2011.

Tony Charuvastra
Tony is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. Tony is a practicing psychiatrist who works primarily with children and adolescents. He is also a teacher, working with residents as Assistant Professor at New York University Medical Center in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and with undergraduates through NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences. Tony received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University, his adult psychiatry training at UCLA-West Los Angeles VA training program, and his child and adolescent psychiatric training at the NYU Child Study Center. He joined the Board in 2017.

Marjorie Coleman
Marjorie is the parent of two Saint Ann’s graduates and the grandparent of three current students. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College and Fordham Law School, Marj’s legal career focused on First Amendment law, advising newspapers and broadcast journalists. She later served as Director of Legal Services for New York News Inc., then-publisher of The Daily News. Marj has served on the Board since 1995.

Peter Davidson ’77
Peter is the parent of three Saint Ann’s graduates. Peter currently works as the CEO and Co-Founder of Aligned Climate Capital, an investment advisor focused on finding real solutions to climate change by focusing on low-carbon and sustainable assets. He also teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. Peter serves as Chairman of the Board at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. He received his B.A. in Classical and Ancient Studies from Stanford University, and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Peter joined the Board in 1990.

Luke Fichthorn
Luke is a current Saint Ann’s parent. He is an investor focused on adaptive reuse projects in and around brownstone Brooklyn. Luke’s nonprofit work includes serving as a trustee at The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. Luke joined the Board in 2018.

Michael Haddad
Michael has had two children attend Saint Ann’s. Mike is Deputy CIO for Public and Tradable Markets for the Bureau of Asset Management, in the Office of the New York City Comptroller. Mike also serves on the board of the Brooklyn Historical Society. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from Southern Methodist University and an M.B.A. from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Mike has served on the Board since 2009.

Julia Kahr
Julia is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. Julia is a Senior Managing Director at The Blackstone Group, where she focuses on private equity investments in the healthcare sector. Julia currently also serves on the boards of Sheltering Arms and BRIC. She received a B.A. in Classical Civilization from Yale University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Julia joined the Board in 2020.

Carolyn Katz
Carolyn is the parent of one current Saint Ann’s student and one graduate. Carolyn is Executive Chairman of Author and Company, a publisher, marketer and retailer of eBooks. She was previously a principal at Providence Equity Partners and a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. Carolyn has served on the boards of several public companies and non-profit organizations, most notably SurvivorCorps, an NGO which helps landmine and other survivors in post-conflict situations around the world. Carolyn graduated from Princeton University, where she earned a B.A. in Classical Languages. She has served on the Board since 2013.

Alex King ’05
Alex is a Prep for Prep program alumnus who came to Saint Ann’s in ninth grade. He currently works as a Strategy and Operations Manager at Google Fiber. Alex began his private sector career as a financial analyst in the energy infrastructure industry, after serving as Corps Member of Teach For America where he taught third grade. He holds a B.A. in History from Yale University and an M.B.A from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Alex also serves as a member of the Saint Ann’s Alumni Advisory Committee. He joined the Board in 2020.

Marc Mayer
Marc is the parent of three Saint Ann’s graduates. Marc is the CEO of Manning & Napier, an investment management company. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of American Friends of the Hebrew University and on the Board of Overseers at Columbia Business School. Marc holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. He has served on the Board since 2005.

Daniel Stone ’92
Daniel is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. He is one of the co‐founders of Ionic Capital Management. Dan was formerly a Managing Director at Highbridge Capital Management. Dan holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College. He has served on the Board since 2007.

Clifford Thomas ’01
Clifford is a Prep for Prep program alumnus who came to Saint Ann’s in seventh grade. He is currently Senior Director of Public Partnerships at Relay Graduate School of Education. After graduating from Harvard College in 2005, Cliff taught science in New York City public schools and in 2010 founded Invictus Preparatory Charter School. He serves on the Board of First Generation Harvard Alumni and holds an ​M.A. from Pace University in Secondary Education and Teaching. Cliff has served on the Board since 2015.

Mary Watson ’78
Mary is both an alumna and the parent of a Saint Ann’s graduate. Mary has been a Senior Attorney at the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen, and Hamilton since 1999 and now serves as the Director of Professional Development for the firm. Before practicing law, Mary was Chair of the Classics and Asian Languages Department at Saint Ann’s, a Latin and Language Structures teacher, and Director of the After School Program. Mary served on the Board from 1996-2005, then spent two years as the Dean of Faculty at Saint Ann’s before returning to the Board in 2008. She holds a B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D. from Yeshiva University, Cardozo School of Law.

Bess Weatherman
Bess is the parent of two Saint Ann’s graduates. She is a Special Limited Partner at Warburg Pincus. During her 28 years at the global private equity firm, she primarily focused on investment opportunities in the healthcare sector. She served on the firm’s executive management group and led its healthcare group. She currently serves on the boards of three public medical technology companies. She also serves on the Stanford University Board of Trustees, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council and as co-chair of the Stanford Women on Boards Initiative and on the Mount Holyoke College Board of Trustees. Prior to beginning her investment career, Bess taught mathematics at the Nightingale-Bamford School. She holds a B.A. in English from Mount Holyoke College and an M.B.A. from Stanford. Bess joined the Board in 2015.

Jide Zeitlin
Jide is the parent of three current Saint Ann’s students. He is a private investor who most recently served as the CEO of Tapestry. Jide founded The Keffi Group and previously worked as a partner at Goldman Sachs. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Amherst College and on the boards of Milton Academy, Teach For America, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Montefiore Medical Center, Playwrights Horizons and Common Ground Community. Jide holds a B.A. in Economics and English from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. Jide joined the Board in 2011.

 

Young Alumni Trustees

Ashley Mathis ’08
After graduating from Saint Ann’s, Ashley earned her B.A. in Sociology from Boston College and her M.Ed in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She develops and facilitates diversity, inclusion, and social justice trainings for nonprofit and community-based organizations. Previously, Ashley was Program Director for a Beacon Community Center at Center for Family Life, a neighborhood-based social services organization in Sunset Park. She serves on the Advocacy Council at the Citizens’ Committee for Children. Ashley began her Young Alumni trustee term in September 2020.

Chinyere Odim ’13
Chinyere is a doctoral student in the field of Critical Studies of Race, Class and Gender at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on the experiences of Black girls in independent schools. She also works as a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) consultant and previously taught at Deerfield Academy. Chinyere holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and an M.S.Ed from the University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the Executive Committee of Swarthmore College’s Black Alumni Network and co-chairs the Black Graduate Student Association at UC Berkeley. Chinyere began her Young Alumni trustee term in September 2020.
