WKRS - Kids Radio Show

The students in room 307 immersed themselves in the time period of the 1930s. Studying the Dust Bowl and the resulting migration and changes in society and government, the class came to understand the hardships many endured and the creative ways they tried to improve their lives. Using books, audio recordings, photographs and interviews of people who lived during the decade, the students developed an awareness of what life was like before our modern conveniences and inventions came along. The class wrote about issues and events they felt represented the time and used their knowledge and imagination to evoke the atmosphere of a decade long ago passed, culminating in the production and presentation of their own radio program.
