All Chinese language students and teachers, plus some faculty from the Classics, Asian Languages, and Language Structures Department, recently got together to celebrate the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. The festival falls on August 15th in the lunar calendar each year, and is equivalent to Thanksgiving in the U.S.
Students discussed legendary stories about the festival and the moon, listened to music, sang Chinese songs, played games, learned Taiji, drew moon pictures, and ate moon cakes! After more than a year of remote learning, this was a particularly festive and joyful in-person (outdoor!) celebration for students studying Chinese language. Everyone had a wonderful time.
