Middle School Application Process for 2025-2026

In general, admission to our Middle School is possible only if there is attrition. We are happy to accept applications for any grade and process supplementary materials for your child in case a space arises. We will schedule interviews on a case-by-case basis if that happens. We do expect a small number of openings in our 6th grade and that process is a bit more developed. You can read about the specific steps for the different middle school grades below.

Info Sessions

Virtual Middle School Info Session

  • We will host a virtual info session for parents interested in learning more about our Upper Middle School (6th-8th grades). This event will be tailored primarily for families applying to the 6th grade, but anyone is welcome to attend. The session will follow a webinar format and will be an opportunity to learn about our school’s philosophy, program and community. You will have the chance to hear directly from the Head of the Upper Middle School. We will devote a portion of the event to a Q&A. You can sign up for this virtual session at any point in the application process by going here.

Virtual Info Session on Diversity and Institutional Equity

  • We will host a virtual open house on diversity and institutional equity for families interested in learning more about our school’s approach to this work. This event will also follow a webinar format and is open to families applying to any/all grades. You can sign up for this event at any point in the application process by going here.

6th Grade Application Process

We expect to have a handful of openings for 6th grade in 2025 and we will be running an active process for this grade.

1) Submit an application through our online admissions portal by November 15th. There is no fee to apply for this grade. Once you’ve submitted your application in our Admissions Portal,  a Student Essay and Parent Questionnaire will appear. Both are also due by November 15.

2) The following supporting materials are due by December 1st:

  • Student writing sample. This should be an assignment from the 2023-2024 school year that was graded by your child’s teacher. It can be a creative writing piece or a non-fiction piece.
  • End of year report card and/or comments from the 2023-2024 school year.
  • The ISAAGNY Middle School Teacher Evaluation to be completed by the student’s current 5th grade teacher and submitted directly to us at admissions.materials@saintannsny.org.

3) Final items due by January 9, 2025:

  • Most recent school report from the current 2024-2025 school year
  • Standardized test scores from either the ISEE or the SSAT. PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure that scores will arrive by the January deadline, students will need to have taken the test by mid-December.

4) Student Interviews

  • After the December deadline, we will begin to review all application materials and determine how many interviews we are able to run. Unfortunately, due to the limited number of openings, we will not be able to meet every candidate for an interview. We will be in touch after the January 9th deadline to communicate your child’s interview status.
  • The interview phase will take place in the latter half of January into early February. Students granted an interview will be scheduled for a 30 minute appointment with a member of our admissions team, as well as a morning or afternoon group visit on a different day. More details about the interviews will be included in the January communication.

5) All final 6th Grade decisions will be emailed on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
